Every time you boot your computer, it will stop at the login screen, waiting for you to enter (or click on) your login name and enter your password. If you're the sole user of your PC, typing your user password becomes a pure waste of time. Here's how to configure your computer to automatically bypass Windows login screen, without removing or clearing your current password.

I went to ubuntu.com and downloaded the desired OS I wanted.More than likely if your computer is new then it has a 64bit system but check and make sure. Windows 7 allowed me to put the OS onto a flash drive just as you would burn it to a cd. I restarted the computer and the loader started and gave me a choice of installing along side of windows. Choose that and you are good to go. I did it on the day I bought my Acer laptop and both run smoothly. It is easier than it sounds, just follow the prompts and you will not have any problems. Good Luck

Excellent description, just read carefully and slow. It means that OEM windows 7 versions can indeed be transferred to another computer as long as the license is removed (with slmgr.vbs /upk in admin mode) from the previous computer.

As I noted, Windows under volume license is not a full license. So you cannot a spare key to perform a new installation. You would need a GGOK which is a full version volume license which permits clean install: -us/windows/genuine/business

Very good article and well written but I still have a little bit of confusion. I bought windows 8 pro dvd (retail license). Then I installed it on my pc. Then I upgraded to windows 8.1 pro. Then I upgraded it to windows 10 pro. However I am planning to buy a new pc that has windows 10 home preinstalled. Please tell the exact steps needed to transfer windows 10 pro license from old to new computer and replace the windows 10 home oem license ? Do I need to uninstall windows 10 pro key from old pc first and then use the easy upgrade feature from within windows 10 home on new pc?Will I be able to do it after July 29th this year? If old computer has 64 bit and new pc has 32 bit,is the transfer still possible?

I have the product key of the latest windows 10 Pro version (July) which is a retail version. I want to ask that if I want to transfer the license key to d new machine all I need to do is to uninstall the product key and write down d key whenever they demand during installation in the new laptop. Am I right Andre? Will it be activated automatically on my new machine since I have used d key of the latest version of d windows 10?

A computer bought some years ago with Windows 8 home, upgraded to Windows 10 home (free upgrade from Microsoft), and running now Windows 10 Pro. If I need downgrade again to Windows 10 Home. Did I lose the original licence after upgrade to windows 10 pro, or can I reinstall Windows 10 home and recover the original licence of the laptop?

Hi,I had purchased Win8 from MS store which got upgraded to Win10. Unfortunately, the machine it was installed on died without giving me an opportunity to surrender/format the machine and re-activate the same product key on a different machine.

You may get an error message that says you don't have administrative privileges if you try to install a program without being signed into an administrative account. For more information see Administrator Password on a Windows Computer

Step 4: Other software like antivirus programs, or any programs or image files that remain open on the drive (even Windows Explorer if its window is open and displaying the contents of the external drive) can prevent safe removal. Close all programs and any open files or windows displaying the drive contents and attempt to remove the drive again.

Computers nowadays usually come with a recovery partition preinstalled, or are shipped with a recovery disc when out of the box, which is used to do a factory reset on your laptop in case system failure happens. However, this may be a little tricky for an old OS version like Windows XP, Windows Vista. (See how to factory reset Windows 10 without password here)

I have installed a second hard drive and I was wondering if can install Windows 7 Pro (full retail version) on the second drive without losing any of my photos and other files that are on the Windows 8 drive?

I would strongly recommend against removing Windows 8 from the system however. It takes up relatively little disk space given the massive sizes of modern hard drives, and you never know when that Windows 8 installation will come in handy.

Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) is a technical standard defined by Intel that specifies the operation of Serial ATA (SATA) disk controllers. When it is supported by your operating system and PC hardware, you will get the benefits of features such as native command queuing and hot swapping. For an older OS like Windows XP which does not support AHCI mode out of the box, without OEM-supplied drivers, it is possible to turn on the legacy (IDE) mode in the BIOS to get it to install properly. If your installed your Windows 7 or Windows 8 accidentally in the legacy IDE mode, and want to switch to the AHCI mode, Windows will not boot after you switch from IDE to AHCI in the BIOS. Here is how to fix it. 2ff7e9595c
